| I was born in Trieste, Italy and came to the US with my sister and grandmother when I was seven-years-old. In 1968, I went to Caracas, Venezuela for a vacation that turned into a ten-year stay. The beauty of the country, the open, loving generosity of her people, the magnificent climate, the most glorious beaches imaginable within driving distance of snow-capped mountains, were all reasons why I stayed but the best reasons were my mother, my brother Mauro, and Antonio, a giant among men who became my |
| "compa#ero". Although these were the happiest ten years of my life, I eventually returned to the US...because it was my country, ...because I wanted it to be my son's country, ...because I was young and foolish, so I left the pot of gold in my possession and went looking for the rainbow. To use an overused argument, my stay in Venezuela made me strong and I returned to the US to walk the path of life alone. After another stay in Venezuela, 1988-1900, my son, Giordano, and I returned to enter college; he went to Rutgers in New Brunswick, I to Temple in Philadelphia. I completed my studies at the School ofInternational and Public Affairs of Columbia University with a Master of International Affairs. Today I am an adjunct professor (that means a professor who works for peanuts, has no benefits and no security) at Temple University, I have been doing research in Venezuela for a book (more about this later) and hope to finish my studies with a PhD , my own birthday present to myself. I continue to write, sculpt, garden and make special things for people I love. |
