Dad's Family
The following three photos were taken on the front lawn of Uncle Jack and Grandpa's place in Port Huron and include eleven of the thirteen sisters and brothers in Dad's family. Grandpa had died the year before. CLICK ON THE THUMBNAIL PICTURE TO SEE THE FULL-SIZE PHOTO.
Four of his five beautiful sisters: Lorna, Olga, Echo & Peg.  Only Peggy on the right was living in Michigan at the time. The other three had come from California and Colorado for this reunion.
All the brothers were valiant. Front row: Dwight, Mark, Keith & Jack. Back row: Jerry, Dad (Lynn) & Conrad.  Dale was in California at this time. I would not meet my Uncle Dale until 1973, fifteen years after this photo was taken.
This picture was taken in our own back yard, that same summer.  Echo, Jack & Dale were missing, but Marvel was available for this photo. Standing: Dad, Dwight, Mark & Jerry. Sitting: Peg, Marvel, Lorna, Olga, Conrad & Keith.

Above photos are of my paternal grandfather (Lynn Senior). The first photo was taken in about 1954 or 1955. Here he is with his ever present cigarette and still wearing his work shirt after coming home. He would have been 62 years old at the time (I think). I can't remember him too much, I was only seven when he died in 1957, but I know he was quiet except he did laugh a lot. Especially when we visited and his sons and daughters were around. He was happy to have them around him, I could tell and they looked up to him and sort of hung on his words, I could tell that even as a child. The house he lived in was like no other house I had ever seen. It had antiques and curiosities everywhere. It was built down into a hill, below ground level in front and had a curving outdoor cement staircase going up to the ground level and around the front. there was a secret tunnel in his little house that came out to a big wooden double door on the side. In the tunnel were little niches in the wall where he had put some antiques. He had a large wooden bowl full of Spanish type hair combs on a table. there was a real Wurlitzer jukebox in his living room and on another table was a miniature coach (like in "Cinderella" I thought) in a glass box. the house was there by itself for a couple years, but then my uncle built a house on the upper level and moved his family in there. The house upstairs was unusual, too, and very attractive to me. Whenever we visited I used to play there with Janet, my cousin, who lived there. It was a wonderful place and I always had fun at Port Huron (even though I always got carsick on the way there...)
The three above pictures are of my paternal grandmother (Olga, Sr.). I always felt sad because I never got to know her very well. She divorced my Grandpa during World War II and moved to Washington state eventually where she lived the rest of her life not too far from some of her other children, My uncle Jerry, and my Aunt Marvel. She evidently did see me when I was a very small baby but, of course, I don't remember it. She came back for a visit in 1961 and everyone was so happy to see her. She used to crochet all the time and I still have some doll clothes she sent me that she crocheted for me. Also I kept some birthday cards and Christmas cards she sent when I was small. After this visit, she was unable to visit  again until the early 1970's when she visited  once more in Michigan.
