  • Getting help

Sooner or later you're gonna have problems, and need help. The support team should be available at most times, but I urge you to remember that others can be of great help as well. Don't underestimate fellow testers, and as phase 3 starts 6-8 volunteers should be available to assist you as well.

When you want help, you want it fast. However, if you can't get it right away, don't give up. There might be other things you can test while you wait. Or you might just take a break and get other things done, then return later to see if someone has found an answer to your problem.

Remember: Most problems you encounter will be a bug. Check the Known bugs list at the beta site. If it's not listed, send in a bug report. You can't expect to get a reply on a bug report though.

Anyhow, this is where you should go look for help:

    1. The beta chat

The fastest way to get help is to go to the chat. Probably someone from Support or the volunteers are online and can help you right away. If not, fellow testers might be able to assist you or at least point you in the right direction.

Tip: You might want to have the chat open while playing. This way you can easily get help and hints, and find people to team up with. However, you probably want to run AO in a window if attending the chat, as ALT+TAB'ing from full screen mode has been known to cause some graphix problems at times.

Warning: Make sure you're in the right chat! Asking someone to solve your beta problems in the main chat might get you in trouble.

    2. The bulletin board

You're probably not the first one to have a particular problem. If you're lucky someone might have posted a solution to it on the board. If not, post your problem, and someone might be able to help. Also, if you solve a problem others might have, please post you solution.

Warning: Again make sure you're at the right board. Luckily you can delete your posts.

    3. News / FAQ

If some bug is causing a lot of people trouble is might be in the news. Check both the beta site and the info window at the game login screen. Also a quick look at the FAQ is in order just to make sure.

    4. Feedback / bug report to Funcom

If you find little help elsewhere, use the feedback form on the beta site to get in touch with the team. You can also send an e-mail to [email protected]. Remember that bug reports will generally not be answered by the team.

    5. ICQ

This too is a great way to get help, and would normally be listed furter up the list. However, not everyone uses ICQ, and many prefer to be invisible. Also testers are often online without wishing to get involved in testing at the moment. Nontheless useful. Feel free to add me (#3876177) to your list.
