ECLAMPSIA CD
Dr. Mario Lopez-Llera  M.
The present is a somewhat bilingual document (English / Spanish) dealing with Eclampsia. However only the front page is written mostly in English. Most hypertext connection, but not all, are in Spanish. The purpose is to present new views and data on Eclampsia, that you may not find elsewhere, since Science as practiced in real life by big and small scientists is frequently polluted by ignorance, unfairness and prejudice. The slide presentations are also in Spanish, however, the technical terms and the graphic and/or design format chosen will make interpretation rather not too difficult in  most languages. Some slides have introductory notes in English.
If you are in a hurry and want to go straight down to business go to INDEX and forget about the rest of this Main Page. However, we suggest to browse this first page whenever possible to get a complete idea of its nature, origins and purposes

Eclampsia Data Center was a pilot non-profit effort to structure an electronic comprehensive data base with all information directly and indirectly related to Eclampsia (hypertensive complications of pregnancy). The main purpose was to provide easy and rapid access to this information to all practitioners, physicians and researchers in these fields in Mexico and eventually Central and South America and the Caribbean region, where Eclampsia has been endemic during the XX century, and where up-dated comprehensive scientific information is not available nor easily accessible through regular channels due to various factors.
Eclampsia Data Center also published a monthly newsletter including an Editorial, the bibliographic production in a recent 30 days period, the summary and discussion of one selected article considered vital for the understanding of these diseases, and significant news of events et al. The letter was written mostly in Spanish and was sent free of charge to subscribers in Mexico and other parts of Latin-America. All these services were limited by lack of public or private funding, but will eventually be available for larger numbers of subscribers through this WEB Site..
Up to January 2000, fifty issues of the monthly newsletter have been published, starting with issue N 1 in May 1995 and ending with issue N 50 in July 1999. The publication and delivery of this newsletter was discontinued with issue N 50 while efforts were made to include it in this WEB/Page.You can access  any of the last  twenty issues of this newsletter and we plan to restart
its monthly publication through this same WEB/site.  You can also send messages to our e-mail address  for specific issues and further questions not included in our present WEB/Page.
In addition to specific issues  you can access  several
slide presentations dealing with most significant  concepts regarding pathogenesis and theoretical aspects of chaos and complexity as they relate to eclampsia and pre-eclampsia, also maternal and perinatal mortality figures.
The monthly list of references  has been discontinued, instead you will have the PubMed abstracts of all articles related to pre-eclampsia published during the third month back of the actual date. We hope this will be more useful than the mere list of references as before.
