| Long Island has the second highest missing child rate in New York State. Children who run away come from all racial, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Youth primarily run away from home due to life crises that involve abuse and maltreatment. These issues are difficult for youth and families to talk about, but breaking the silence is the first step toward a safe alternative. |
