If so, you may be interested in the Community Outreach services provided by Long Island Crisis Center. Our community outreach educators offer interactive workshops on a variety of topics that pertain to the concerns that teens and parents have today.

Our community educators visit schools, colleges, companies, centers or libraries to conduct workshops, participate in health fairs, and share information needed to educate teens and parents on today's issues.
Young people learn new ways to define, evaluate and enhance self-esteem, and to strengthen their sense of self-worth.

DEPRESSION & SUICIDE PREVENTION
80% of young people who attempt suicide tell someone first.  Learn the warning signs, causes and what a young person can do to help when a friend is suicidal.
The Center is widely recognized for its expertise in crisis intervention counseling training and has provided workshops to youth workers, law enforcement officers, mental health practitioners and office workers.
Consultation is available to help schools and community groups organize peer counseling programs and to train youth peer counselors.
STRESS REDUCTION WORKSHOP
Consultation is available to help organizations and their employees deal with stress in the workplace and in their private lives

Community Education Program

Our Speaker's Bureau is available to conduct workshops on a variety of issues.

Young people are given new tools to manage anger in a non-violent manner through learning communication skills, role playing and coping with consequences.
This is an interactive workshop which encourages participants to discuss stereotyping based on gender, age, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation.

Lesbian and gay adolescents face particular challenges developing into healthy adults. This interactive 90-minute workshop will introduce service providers, teachers and administrators to the dynamics of growing up gay. Participants will learn how their school or agency can be more responsive to this population.

This workshop is designed for all school personnel, to raise awareness about specific challenges faced by lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth. Participants will discuss the risk factors for these students as well as realistic strategies to make school a safer place for all students, including the creation of
Gay-Straight Alliances.
