My Personal Antidepressant

(continued)
(page 3)
Don't serve time. Make time serve you.
Why is there never enough time to do it right but always enough time to do it over?
If we give everything we have for Eternal Life it will still be the best bargain we can make.
~Sterling W. Sill
O foolish men, who think to protect the world with armaments, battleships and space equipment, when only righteousness will do.
~Spencer W. Kimball
Divide an orange ... it tastes just as good.
He who imagins he can do without the world deceives himself much; but he who fancies the world cannot do without him is still more mistaken.
~La Rochefoucald
The difficulty, my friend, is not to avoid death, but unrighteousness; for that runs faster than death.
Blessed is the man, who having nothing to say, abstains from giving wordy evidence of the fact.
~George Eliot
To get maximum attention there's nothing like a good, big mistake.
Keep smiling. People will wonder what you've been up to.
Wise words often fall on barren soil, but a friendly word never is in vain.

Birthstones

January
By her who in this Month is born,
No gems save Garnets should be worn.
They will insure her constancy,
True friendship and fidelity.
February
The February born will find,
Sincerety and pece of mind,
Freedom from passion and from care,
If they the Pearl will always wear.
March
Who in this world of ours. their eyes
In March first open shall be wise;
In days of peril, firm and brave,
And wear a Bloodstone to their grave
April
She who from April dates her years
Diamonds should wear lest little tears
for vain repentance flow. This stone,
Emblem of innocence is known.
May
Who first beholds the light of day
In spring's sweet flowery month of May
and wears an emerald all her life,
Shall be a loved and happy wife.
June
Who comes with summer to this earth
And owes to June, her day of birth
With ring of Agate on her hand,
Can health, wealth and long life commanmd.
July
The glowing ruby should adorn
Those who in warm July are born,
Then will they be exempt and free
From love's doubt and anxiety
August
Wear a Sardonyx or for thee
No conjugal felicity.
The August born without this stone
'Tis said must live unloved and lone.
September
A maiden born when autumn leaves
Are rustling in September's breeze,
A Sapphire on her brow should bind,
'Twill cure diseases of the mind.
October
October's child is born for woe
And life's vicissitudes must know
But lay an Opal on her breast
And hope will lull those woes to rest.
November
Who first comes to this world below
With drear November's fog and snow
Should prize the topaz' amber hue - -
Emblem of friends and lovers too.
December
If cold December gave you birth
The month of snow and ice and mirth
Place on your hand a turquoise blue;
Sucess will bless what 'ere you do.

Winners and Losers

A winner paces himself, a loser has only two speeds: hysterical and lethargic.

When a winner makes a mistake he says "I was wrong." When a loser makes a mistake he says "It wasn't my fault."

A winner knows how and when to say "yes" and "no", but a loser says" perhaps" at the wrong time and for the wrong reason.
Burden
Little child in church attire,
Victim of unwelcome fame,
Life has handed you a problem,
Things will never be the same.

Little whispers you must silence,
Little fingers you must fold;
Stop your wiggles, stifle giggles
You've a duty to uphold.

You will nevermore be privileged
Like the other juviniles;
Little ones in your position,
Do not clatter down the aisles.

Every eye will be upon you
When you sing and when you pray;
For your father was made bishop
Just a week ago today.
~Virginia Maugham Kammeya
Cheadles Laws

Any error that can creep in, will. It will be in the direction that will do the most damage to the calculation.

All assignments will be due one day before completion.

Foolproof instructins aren't.

Errors in measurements will always exceed limits of uncertainty.

Straight line relationships will plot as curves.

In a complex calculation, one factor from the numerator will always move into the denominator.

In any calculation, the figure most obviously correct is the mistake.

Science is a never-ending, dedicated search for the truth -- don't be mislead by the facts.

If everything is going right you forgot something.

All constants are variables.

If anything can go wrong, it will; if it can't possibly go wrong, it will anyway.

Dimensions will be given in the least usable terms; velocity for example, will be given in furlongs per fortnight.

Faith came singing into my room,
And other guests took flight,
Care, anxiety, fear, and gloom,
All fled into the night.
I wondered how such peace could be,
When Faith said gently, "Don't you see,
They could not possibly live with me."
~Anon.

My Creed
I would be true, for there are those who trust me.
I would be pure, for there are those who care.
I would be strong, for there is much to suffer.
I would be brave, for there is much to dare.

I would be friend to all - - the foe, the friendless.
I would be giving and forget the gift.
I would be humble, for I know my weakness.
I would look up -- and -- laugh -- and love -- and lift.
~Herold Arnold Walter
