Folklore is a part of everyday life in all cultures and ages. It is the passing down of stories sometimes through several generations of families, and other times through a handful of college students. Folklore can often be confused with rumors, but what makes these stories pure folklore is that it has withstood the test. College campuses have their own brand of folklore that is quite different, and Birmingham-Southern, being the small community that it is has it's own special brand of college folklore. These stories, both old and new, reflect the culture of one of Birmingham's graetest schools. These are the stories they don't put on the school brochures. These are the scret stories that have to be drawn out of the people who know the school best: the students. Students have opened up their minds and remembered great folk stories about the campus that some students might never know. These stories enrich our lives as we learn more about the folklore that surrounds us. |
