Material Folklore
The kind of folklore that is tangible is usually described as material folklore.  Things that are seen and touched, instead of discussed or practiced but are equally important as any other type of folklore.  Birmingham-Southerns material folklore comes mostly from the interesting foods people have come up with over the years.  Whether its mixing up something of their own, or spreading the word about the cafs less-than-perfect meal concoction, there are plenty of folk foods available.

Folk foods:

Many people talk about the caf's John Wayne Casserole. Apparently it's not good at all, so students warn others against it.

People have starting putting M&M's and other candy items from the ice cream toppings bin and mixing it in their waffle batter before they cook it. People have heard about it and seen it from others and tried it themselves.

one of the fraternities have a drink that they made up and is known around campus.
