The harvest feast is a tradition since the Portuguese days. When the crop is ready, the locals consecrate the harvest to the island Church. This begins at the fields, where some crop is cut & carried in a procession, after prayers.

The procession follows the time-trodden route through the fields, up the winding mountain road leading to the Church.
