 Enchanted Garden Pond

April 2001

We can enjoy our pond morning noon and night in the summer and winter.  We can see it from all the front windows of our house.  It is about 6 steps from our front porch.  Danny started the digging and lined in early December 2000.   We had it finished by Christmas day.  We have since improved on the waterfalls.  It is approximately 15' long by 6 feet wide at the waterfalls, 2' wide under the bridge and 4' at the fountain on the other side of the bridge.  It is 2' deep.  We lined it with EPDM45mil pond liner material.  It is guaranteed to last 30 years. We have a pump filter with the fountain and a bio-filter behind the waterfalls.  It hold approx. 560 gallons of water.  We have aeration plants, surface plants and bog plants and about 20 goldfish to help with the Eco balance of the pond.  The water lilies, water hyacinth, water lettuce, water clover and all the other bog, marginal and area plants have grown and filled the areas nicely.  I have tried to pick plants that will fill in at different times of the year.  You will find little statuary place strategically around.  I am not a poet or a writer but this pond has made me fell so good I just had to try my hand at writing my vary first poem.

The Enchanted Garden Pond, not to fear
Attracts our friends galore
Rabbits, squirrels, and family of deer,
All welcome as we dream of more.

In our magical garden we have a code
You’re invited by, Happy, the frog,
Posed on top of his abode
Watching flowers grow in the nearby bog.

The babbling water that falls in the pond
Through gift rocks all around
Now the goldfish have a place to bond
Under the lilies in the spring be found.

The romance between Toadette and Bull
Toad city, with tadpoles, will soon be full.
Raccoon in his begging stance
Leaves goldfish scurrying for a chance.

 Little girls love the sights,
As they feed the birds in flight.
Young boy with his fishing poll he fetched
Dreaming of that big fish to catch.

The Garden Fairy watches over all
Our little friends and flowers to protect
With help from the orange ladybugs
On their crossing ne’re to defect.

In the gardens morning breezes fear
The dancing of the cast iron plants,
The flapping of the elephant ears,
Joined by the flowers, perform their ritual dance

Little koalas, from “down under”, wait,
To be found by friends that look forever
The name, “the bear”, they hate
Will leave our garden never.

The birds and butterflies display colors of the rainbow
Fill our blue sky without a dare.
From seed to seed and flower-to-flower, they blow
In our world without a care.

Sunshine Days and Rainbow Dreams
Bring the fantasies of the fairy to be
Dancing and sprinkling fairy dust
So sweethearts, at nights, can see
