Shoot at
Gunsmoke
April 21,2002
For the April shoot we
had house guests for the weekend. Sassy Hatter, husband Two Shot Tex and
son Doc Gafford came up from
Floresville, Texas as our guest and to visit Gunsmoke. I met Sassy on a
CAS message board. We discovered we both lived in Texas and shared some
common hobbies so made friends. She makes beautiful Victorian hats and
clothes. We met Sassy and Tex in person when they come for two days during
Trailhead in March. We invited them shortly after for the April
shoot. Here are a few photos at our home and at Gunsmoke. We spent
Saturday practicing.

Shooting are Ph1: Danny Ringo, Ph2: Two Shot Tex, Ph3: Sassy
Hatter
On Sunday we all got up
early and arrived at Gunsmoke for the shoot. At the morning opening
meeting they had a drawing for a rifle and a pistol. The names in the hat
came from the members that helped with preparation for
Trailhead. Danny Ringo and I helped out every Saturday for 7 of the 8 weeks.
DR worked
very hard building porches and replacing old wood. I painted signs and
buildings. There were at least 15 workers every week but not always the same
ones.

Charles Goodnite (club president called out Danny's name as
winner then presented him with the rifle.
DANNY RINGO WON THE
RIFLE. We were so excited!!! Charles Goodnight (president of the
club) presented DR with the gun and complimented him for deserving the gun for
working so hard. It was nice having our friends there to help us
celebrate. Three Fingers Jack won the
pistol.
Ph1: Doc Gafford, Ph2 Sassy Hatter, P3 Danny with all his 4 guns
shooting his scenario. All are in the Marshal's Office and jail.
They were all on Sheriff
Whiskers posse. One of the stages was The Marshall's Office.
The scenario starts with the shooter sitting in
the jail and saying the little speech as Doc Gafford is doing in the picture
above. The time starts, They next unlock the cell and go out, like
Sassy, to the shooting table. Danny Ringo has his guns ready and is shooting at
the
targets.
Danny Ringo saying his speech
before time starts and he starts shooting.
This stage is at Curls
Saloon. Danny Ringo is saying his speech just before the timer
starts. They always have a little speech to say before starting the time on
the shoot. See the smoke form DR gun when the bullets hit the targets.

Two Shot Tex, Sassy Hatter and son Doc Gafford in back. Country Girl
Linda and Danny Ringo.
What nice folks to spend a weekend with, doing our
shared hobby. We look forward to doing this again.
On a very sad note.
The week following Trailhead Three Fingers was killed in an automobile accident
so he never knew he won the gun. He was a good man, liked by all.
Many of the cowboys and cowgirls attended the funeral in their cowboy
garb.
