Nuclear energy has been around for awhile and debated over for the period it has been available as a alternative energy source. There are many issues people who debate the good and the bads of this alternative energy source.
Nuclear energy is a very powerful energy source. Nuclear energy can last a long time. The french government have been the only country to run most of the power off of/utilize nuclear energy power/generator and they have not had any known problems with it so far. The other thing is it would be considered the next rocket fuel source because how much longer it can last than fossil fuel. It also is clean to the air.
The downside of this power fuel is noted. The first problem is the chemical waste it leaves behind which as of this time and period it is not known how to dispose of this product saftely other than storing it secure storage facilities. The other problem is the reminder of Chernobyl Reactor in Russia. On april 25th- 26th the worst nuclear power incident occured in Chernobyl. The workers running the reactor at the time it exploded ignored the reactants heating and did not attempt to shutdown the reactor or to release the cooling core to lower the temp. This explosion released a large radioactive cloud over 10 km which the people were evacuated. This cloud has been known to effect the whole northern hemisphere.
The Nuclear power plants in the U.S. create about 20% of the country's electricity. The nuclear energy rates or cost is similar to our electrical rates.
I believe there is a hope for the alternative energy. The fact is they have to find a safer way to dispose of the nuclear waste contents. This could be a new wave of energy is there was a guaranteed safety and disposal that is not harmful to us and our enviorment.
