Hydropower is is energy derived from falling or flowing water. Hydro-electric power plants convert the kinetic energy contained in falling water into electricity.Hydro power is also known as hydro elctric energy which is ran through dams also.
Hydropower produces over 20% of world wide energy. The hydro power can aslo prevent the use of 22 billion gallons of oil or 120 billion tons of coal each year. The other fact is using the ocean waves as a source of hydro power which is practically unlimited and clean.
The downside is that the use of this power on inland rivers can damage plant life, ruin fish migration and disrupt natural river flow.
This form of energy is the cheapest renewable energy out in the market compared to fossil fuels and other alternative energy on the market today.
My opinon i think more hydro plants should be used through out the world. They save many natural resources and i very cost effecient to use. This could solve a lot of our energy crisis in the world today. |
