Rambling

Nov 4th, 2001
Yikes. obviously i don't type here much. which could only mean two things. i'm 1) too busy or 2) too happy. I'm not particularly upset at the moment, but i am certainly getting flooded with a massive slew of homework that typically piles up after going thru midterms. Since i was adding to the Den however I figured i'll drop a note here too..

Some of the more disturbing things that happened lately (since July anyways) include the deaths of several friends of my parents, and some relatives of my friends. :< I guess i must be getting old...

And of course, Sept 11th in the United States. I was quite disgusted by how some people twist and warp the ideals of some religions to promote pain and suffering on others. I don't know much about religions, but i would think that the whole POINT of following religious practices is so that you look at YOURSELF critically and adjust your behaviour accordingly in an attempt to be better persons than you were originally. being better persons, i think, certainly does NOT entail killing people off just because. So did they really "do it" because they "believe"? I am quite doubtful of that.

That being said, the same is true for the United States. I know no more about politics than i do religion. But isn't dropping bombs on a country kinda throwing the entire ideals of the Justice System out the window? It is next to impossible to know (at the moment anyways, if ever) who exactly are getting hurt more by the bombing - the civilians, or the individuals they're after? Unfortunately, i've grown skeptical enough that i can't quite manage to believe anything either side claims.

Anyhow. I think i'll leave it at that. Should go get some homework done...

Surprising title maybe. I don't think i talk a whole lot, but i do blab a lot on email and snail mail (when i do get around to it!). In fact, most of the webpage itself is Lilian's ramblings!! I've decided to split the "happenings" and "thoughts" rambling tho, and keep the "News" section (happenings) relatively free of the (potentially much longer) "thoughts" (i.e. keep the News section concise!)

Some of the topics i intend to explore in these pages (well, most, i'd say, for the moment anyways) are morality, truth, life, and death. In particular, i think my recent diversion to a bioethics course have brought to my attention my obsession of what constitutes the right and the wrong. I am now taking a business ethics class too. Anyhow. I think thats enough of an intro. I will probably sporadically type on this page, probably most likely when someone pisses me off! (which, thankfully, is very uncommon...)
