Want to learn some basic Japanese romaji words? Well, below are some of the basic and frequent words used in the Inuyasha series.

ai - love
ai shiteru - I love you
anata - you *common*
ano - well...*common*
are - (ah-reh) huh?
arigato - thank you
arigato gozaimasu - thank you very much
atashi - me (female version)
baka - idiot/stupid *common-Inuyasha calls Kagome this A LOT*
bishoujo - pretty girl
bishounen - pretty boy
boku - me/I (used by males - informal)
chibi - little, small
chikuso - dammit
chotto - a little
chuu-gakkou - middle school
daijoubu - in a question form - "Are you ok?" but said out as a statement means -"I'm fine."
demo - but
fuku - uniform
gakkou - school
gakkousei - student
genki - energy, healthy, happy, energetic
gomen - sorry
gomen nasai - I'm very sorry
hai - yes
hanyou - han=half, you=demon; take Inuyasha in this case
hentai - pervert
hime - princess
hokora - small shrine like the well in the Higurashi Shrine
houshi - monk
iie - no
inu - dog
Inuyasha - inu=dog, yasha=demon
itai - it hurts! or in another way..ouch!
ja ne - or 'ja' - see you later
jigoku - hell
Kagome - a song for children that many Japanese people know. Besides being the heroine's name, there's a meaning to it. It was in one of the episodes..
Kami - God; kami-sama would be talking about god, or some very high ranking person
kappa - water demon
katana - Japanese samurai styled sword
kawaii - cute
kaze - wind
ki - spirit, energy
kimi - you (male form to close friends or children)
kimono - what Inuyasha wears
kirei - beautiful
kisama - you (very insulting) *common in Inuyasha's case*
kitsune - fox *Shippou*
kokoro - various meanings, but all related to spirit
konnichi wa - good afternoon
kunoichi - female ninja
mamouru - to protect
mamotte ageru - I'll protect you.
matte - stop, wait!
miko - priestess
minna - everyone
mou - sign of exasperation
nani - what?
ningen - human
ohayo - hello
oi! - hey! (male) Inuyasha uses this a lot
oji - prince
ojo - princess
onegai - please
Oni - devil
onna - woman
ore - me (rude)
osuwari - sit! *VERY common* this is what Kagome says to control Inuyasha
otoko - male, guy, man
otoko no ko - boy
otou-san - father
owari - the end
oyasumi nasai - good night
sake - wine
Sengoku Jidai - warring states era. Inuyasha's time
senpai - upperclassmen
Shikon no Tama - Jewel of Four Souls created by a very powerful priestess named Midoriko; can grant the beholder immense power
shin-e - die
Shouki - evil aura given off by youkai
shoujo - girl
shounen - boy
sora - sky
sugoi - great, fantastic
sumimasen - excuse me
tai - ultimate, surpreme, or great.
tamashi - life
Tetsusaiga - Inuyasha's sword made from the fangs his father; this sword can only be wielded by him and is also a guardian sword to protect Inuyasha from his youkai transformations
Tenseiga - Sesshoumaru's sword also made from the fangs of his father; this sword can revive the dead and at times when Sesshoumaru is in danger, the sword acts on it's own and heals him, it's a healing sword
urusei - shut up (Inuyasha says this to Kagome a lot)
uso - a lie
wakaru - I understand.
watashi - I (polite)
watashi wa - I am
yamero - stop it!
yarou - bastard (used towards males)
youkai - demon
yume - dream
zettai - never
zutto - always
