Poetry by Amanda Walsh
The Other Shore Standing at the ocean,
Standing at the sea,
I see another shore,
And a girl who looks like me.
I see another shore,
I see a girl I knew.
I see another time before,
A time when love was true.
I see water that I've crossed,
I see the bridge that I've burned,
I see you there beside me;
Is my lessoned learned?
Now the girl is gone,
Not where she was before.
It's amazing what you see,
Standing at the other shore.

Last Day At The Beach
It's six and the sun comes up so slow.
It has a certain brightness and a glow.
A mile out in the water,
There is a reflection from the sun,
That makes it even hotter.
It's that time, time that people arrive,
And fight for a place to park.
(They think it's the only way to survive.)
Bringing chairs and shovels,
They sit in one place,
Lay down and chill,
Letting their minds drift into space.
It's time to swim,
So get your floats,
To fight the waves and watch the passing boats
We find sea shells big and small,
Lots of colors and shapes,
We see them all.
Now the sun has reached,
The other side of the beach.
It's deserted now and it's dark,
But now at least,
We'll find a place to park.

YOU
With gentle thoughts of you I see,
Just how much you mean to me.
A smile, a laugh, a dream come true.
This is what I see in you.
A tender smile upon your face.
A laugh that no one can replace.
A dream come true that's come along,
To take my hand and make me strong.
So with my heart,
I give to you,
A part of me, forever true,
I say a prayer that you will stay,
And never, ever go away!

IMAGINATION
Underneath the shimmering stars,
Over the never ending rainbow,
Through the silver lining of the clouds,
Outside the harsh, uncaring world.
Aboard a star ship fantasy,
And beyond the fearsome outer realm,
During an idealistic dream,
Alongside a devoted companion,
Is where you experience imagination.
