Summary of Projects Undertaken
Brgy. Simata, Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur - 26 January 2006 (two days before barangay fiesta), in a simple ceremony, Life 4 Water turned-over to the barangay council of Simata the Level II water system project powered by L4W manufactured # 2 hydraulic ram pump. The water sytem that delivers 3,500 gallons daily was valued at  P1.185 million in cash, materials, and labor. The Josefina Parish Integrated Program, with support from Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD), provided the most valuable seed money of P55,000 in cash for the manufacture of the ram; with it the whole community was aroused and mobilized. Soon pipes and other materials support were provided by Congressman Real. Mayor Jun Saniel of Molave contributed about PhP 100,000 worth of materials plus the opening of an access road to the area for easy access of transport of materials. The barangay council of Simata also provided a PhP70,000 in cash for the labor and also solicited the remaining costs  from concerned individuals in the community. Spontaneously, the community,  contributed whatever little help they can for the completion of the project.

Life 4 Water provided all the technical and other professional supports as well as human resource back-up and some cash.

The construction which ran from November 2005 to January 2006 directly benefited about 900 people. It was an illustration of a community in unison for genuine community development

TAGAYTAY COMMUNITY WATER TRAINING HELD
(L-R) Alexandra Cooney, Stephanie O'Connel and Carino Antequisa  of Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) together with partner organization, JPIP rep Mercy Delantar graced the distribution of certificate of completion during the closing ceremonies of the concluded Tagaytay Community Water Training. Life 4 Water reps distributed the certificates to the successful trainees.
09 May 2006, Barangay Tagaytay, Josefina, Zamboanga Del Sur -- About 25 farmer-trainees completed the 5-day Community Water Training held from May 4 - 9, 2006. The training-workshop, which is a part of the enabling training conducted by Life 4 Water, is second a part of the 3-part series of trainings in preparation of the construction of a level II water system in the ensuing month. The trainess underwent Water Planning and Designing and Basic Plumbing and Pipefitting. During the planning and designing workshop, the trainees learned the properties of water, water cycle, surveying and engineering drawing. They also learned to how to use different surveying and drawing instruments. They learn to measure distance, elevations, directions, flow of spring and able to plot them in a cross-section paper. In the plumbing workshop, they know the basic plumbing handtools and learned how to use and handle them. Here they learned to thread pipes and how to connect them using appropriate fittings and tools.

The measuring and drawing instruments as well as the complete set of plumbing tools were turned over to the community after the training.

The training was funded by CAFOD through its partnership with the Josefina Parish Integrated Program or JPIP; Life 4 Water were facilitators.

Left: Trainees surveyed the possible pipe route from the spring source using the transit level, compass and surveyor's tape all by themselves. L4W personnel don't have hard time coaching the trainees as because they learn surprisingly fast.
