I'm going to say something that will almost certainly make me lose credibility here;-) - but I swear on my honor that it happened!
The other day some Witness left a note in my front door reminding me about the Memorial and inviting me to attend it. I let out a sigh and left the note on the table all day while I was out.
That night my mother was there using the typewriter. When I walked into the room to get something, she suddenly said the machine was acting up. I walked over and without her touching the keys, the machine typed, "Happy Holidays". I immediately thought of the invitation to the Memorial and it scared the @%&* out of me!
I haven't had time to check it out and find an explanation yet. This typewriter version does have a feature where it will type certain demos on it's own but I don't know how "Happy Holidays" would be part of a demo. I've also considered the possibility that my mother was playing a cruel trick on me (I wouldn't put it past her since she knows I've been reading Stephen King). The typewriter also has a "preview" feature that lets you see what you've typed before it actually gets printed. So far she doesn't seem suspicious and she seemed just as spooked as me, but if I find out otherwise there'll be some BIG TIME payback going on! (I'm the master).
I'm going to check up on it in a little bit because that was just too creepy....;-)

P.S. I wonder which chapter in Sagan's book addresses this? ;-D
