We had a case here in Ontario where a house was being control by a being called Sommy. TV turning on by itself, Sommy joined in phone conversations, Sommy had knowledge that only the family knew,etc.
When I first read the story, I said, "It is someone in the house, probably a teenager."
The parents had a teenage son; all swore that it could not be him. The events took place over several months. Experts examined the wiring, etc. of the home; they concluded that the son or father was doing it. This was national news.
Finally, the parents decided to take the son for a lie detector test to prove his innocence. On the way to the test, he confessed.
He said it was such a thrill that he couldn't stop.
Your mother may not normally be the type to do this, but don't discount it. It is a thrill to spook someone, and she is only human.
