Where I've Been
-
Born and raised in Michigan.
-
Graduated from Michigan State University
with a degree in Accounting (because there were no jobs in education
back in the late 70s) and began a career with Unisys (formerly
Burroughs). I worked there for 16 years in various staff and
managerial positions.
-
Turned 40, decided to quit my job,
go back to school to get a teaching certificate and pursue my lifelong
dream of being a teacher.
-
Received my teaching certificate from
Eastern Michigan University in December 1997.
-
Started teaching business and computer
classes at Ladywood
High School in Livonia, Michigan in the fall of 1998.
My Life as an Educator
-
I love being a
teacher because I am always learning. It never gets boring
because there are always ways to improve your classes and teaching
style.
-
I have been teaching for 7 years and am so grateful
to have a job that I truly enjoy.
-
These are the classes I teach:
- Keyboarding
- Microsoft Office I
- Web Design
- C++ Programming - This one will be
new for me in the fall . . . my summer challenge :-)
- Career Explorations (study skills class for incoming
freshmen)
- Career Planning
- Introduction to
Business
- Economics
When I'm Not Working....
-
I spend most of my free time doing the "mom
thing". I have two children. Brian just finished
his first year at Michigan State University where he is majoring in
Human Biology (pre-med). My daughter, Corina, is a freshman at
Ladywood High School where I teach. My husband, Jim, is a systems
analyst at EDS in Detroit.
-
I am active in my parish, Our Lady of Good
Counsel, in Plymouth, MI. These are the ministries in which I
am currently involved:
- Religious
Formation (18 years most of it spent
teaching 5th grade)
- Children's
Liturgy of the Word
- LifeTeen
(I help with parent support work.)
- The Edge
(junior high LifeTeen)
