WWE Sunday Night Heat Report
July 14, 2002
Lillian caught up with Bradshaw in the back. The big Texan
showed off his new design on the Hardcore Title before addressing Chris Nowinski.
Bradshaw was not too impressed by the Harvard grad's academic career, listing his
own scholastic achievements, even though Bradshaw admitted that they didn't quite
measure up to the gaudy transcript of the Ivy League Nowinski.. However, before heading
to the ring, Bradshaw told Raven he was very sorry, but tonight, Hardcore would get
taken to a new level!
WWE HARDCORE TITLE MATCH
WWE Hardcore Champion BRADSHAW def. RAVEN to retain the WWE Hardcore Title:
Raven tried to get the jump on the champion, blasting him with a trash can lid shot
to the head but Bradshaw fought back and dominated the next few minutes, first nearly
decapitating the man from the Bowery with a vile shot to the head with the steel
steps then following it up with a little rodeo action, actually hogtying Raven in
the middle of the ring!
Raven took over after a series of sign shots to the head and after a potted plant
shot to the stomach (yes, I actually said Raven hit Bradshaw with a potted plant,)
Raven seemed in firm control. Bradshaw came back with a belly-to-back suplex but
Raven scored with a drop toehold into a chair in the corner.
However, the end was soon to come for Raven as Bradshaw caught him coming off of
the ropes with his trademark fallaway slam. The 300-pound titlist then mowed down
Raven, wrapping his lariat around his arm and leveling Raven with the Clothesline
from Hell!
HBK's ultimatum from Raw this past week to his good buddy, Triple H, was shown.
SEAN O'HAIRE def. SHAWN STASIAK:
Stasiak controlled much of the early going, keeping O'Haire grounded and working
the upper back. Stasiak scored with a facebuster and a front suplex, keeping the
pressure on O'Haire's back but Sean scored with a Sunset Flip to get a nearfall.
Stasiak went back to work on the back but O'Haire took to the air with a pair of
dropkicks to stagger the Planet Stasiak native. Shawn was reeling and O'Haire scooped
Stasiak up for his reverse Spicolli Driver that he calls Cruel Intentions. O'Haire
rolled into the cover and three seconds later, the former WCW Tag Team Champion prevailed!
Footage of RVD's escalating rivalry with Brock Lesnar was shown. RVD ambushed Lesnar
this past week and then pasted a chair into the face of his former employer, Paul
Heyman, going corner-to-corner with a breathtaking Van Terminator! Later in the night,
RVD would team with Booker T, Golust and the Dudleyz but unfortunately they came
up on the short end of the stick in a loss to Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero and the
nWo, who lost Kevin Nash during the match to a torn quadriceps.
The Rey Mysterio, Jr. teaser is shown again.
WWE WOMEN'S TITLE MATCH
WWE Women's Champion MOLLY HOLLY def. JACQUELINE to retain the WWE Women's Title
GUEST REFEREE - CRASH:
Jackie controlled the early going, frustrating the champion with a pair of armdrage
following a nice series of chain wrestling. However, Molly turned the tide in her
favor with a drop toehold that hung Jackie out to dry across the second rope then
the titlist went to work on the challenger's back with a series of elbows and a backbreaker.
Jackie tried to fight back and although Molly stopped her momentum with a pair of
hairpull takedowns, the Tough Enough 2 trainer came back with a belly-to-back suplex
and a pair of kicks to the midsection before hitting a roundhouse kick that floored
the champion. Jackie took to the skies, going to the top rope for a crossbody block,
but Molly sidestepped the move, sending Jackie barreling into Crash! However, Crash
held onto Jackie on the mat, allowing his cousin to grab her title belt then after
a shot to the back of the had and a three-count from Crash, Molly retained her title!
Footage from SmackDown! featuring the return of the Great One and his eventful encounters
with Kurt Angle and The Undertaker was shown. The trio will meet in the Joe Louis
Arena nnext Sunday at Vengeance in a Triple Threat Undisputed Title Match.
Footage of Jeff Hardy's WWE European Title win over William Regal last week was shown.
THE BIG SHOW def. MATT HARDY:
Show tossed Matt into the corner with great ease to get the match underway so Matt
took a moment to rethink his strategy. Things seemed to be going a little better
as Matt ducked under a big boot and fired away with kick to the back of the calf
but Show countered an Irish Whip with a clothesline to go back on the offensive.
Show crumpled Matt up in the corner with a thunderous chop to the chest and then
after a very prolonged suplex and a backbreaker, the big man slowed the pace with
a crushing bearhug. Matt fought out and went for the Side Effect out of the corner
which Show countered, but Matt recollected himself and a second rope Side Effect
found its mark.
Matt got a nearfall as Show nearly tossed Matt out of the ring on the kickout then
after countering the Twist of Fate with a boot off of the ropes, Show was back in
control. However, Matt came back with a dropkick to the back of the knee after a
go-behind, sending the former WWE Champion to the arena floor and then the elder
Hardy went for it all and scored with a moonsault from the top rope to the floor!
Show retreated back into the ring and Matt felt the momentum building as he went
to the top rope one more time. Show saw him coming this time, though, catching him
by the throat on the way down and the 500-pound nWo monster plastered Matt with the
Showstopper to pick up the win as Heat came to a close!
