Sunday's qualifying was much better as we ran the more usual south oval configuration. Our race was marred by a serious incident involving Victor Gangi in the #03 ITA Acura Integra. Victor went off-track and had a hard impact with a barrier after only a couple of laps. Most of the race was spent following the pace car as they extracted Victor from his car.

An expensive weekend for some... Saturday qualifying was interrupted by a black-flag period to clean up two GTL/Prod cars that took each other out between turns 2 and 3. Race Saturday was a mess.. Neither of two cars trying a low-percentage move on the start would give ground, resulting in a pile-up that took out at least five cars, sent one guy to the hospital, and caused me to come to a complete stop to avoid getting caught up in the wreck. The result - I re-joined the pack at the back for the re-start after a few pace laps. Sunday's qualifying race started well enough. Lost several positions at the start, though. Midway through the race, I attempted an inside pass at Turn 3 to get by Eric LeBlanc. My brakes locked up, spinning me backward, and, unfortunately, I collected Eric in the process (I only need a new bumper cover, Eric, to my dismay, needs a whole right rear suspension and some sheet metal). That incident also caused me to wait until the field passed by before I was able to re-join. Sunday's final race was ok.. A little gun-shy after the morning's session, I didn't push much. Had a lot of fun dicing with Dick Patullo for most of the race, until he got it sideways in turn 3 and I was able to pull away.
Traffic and more traffic on Saturday. 39 cars took to the track for race group 3 - 26 in ITA (13 split between GTL and E, F, G, and H Production). Ran the chicane-chicane configuration on Saturday - not my car's favorite. Stuck behind slower traffic for most of qualifying. Managed to pick up several positions during the race.
Family matters limited my involvement to only one of the two Cheap Date races. Qualifying was slow, and a late-day thunderstorm delayed our race until the next morning. Lots of fun during the race dicing with the RX-7 crowd.
