RACE REPORTS

Opening Day Regional
Time to shake off the cobwebs and go racing! With the Z3 finally running right, I qualified about where I would have in the Honda (now I can start developing the car!). Decent start, but I got help up in turn 3 on the first lap. One of the Nissan 240SXs went 4-wheeling off the left side of the track and decided to re-enter traffic right in front of me. I backed off to avoid contact and lost a couple of placed because of that. Got caught behind some folks I just could not get around and my whole rhythm was thrown off.. At least the car made it back on the trailer in more or less the same condition it came off (except for a rear shock mount that I think went south on me). Should have some car (and maybe driver) improvements ready for Pig Roast in July, if not for Memorial Day at Lime Rock!

RAL Weekend
After a summer of not racing due to family commitments, I returned to the track with a greatly changed car - new gearing, a limited slip, new springs, new suspension bushings, and new tires - all of which I'm still in the process of learning. For the race, on-and-off rain throughout the day led me to go with a wet-weather tire setup. Unfortunately, the rain stayed off during our race, and the rain tires were simply not holding their own in the almost dry conditions.
