What a difference new tires make! First time out on Hoosiers, and I better my times by about a second over last season. Several laps behind the pace car during the race due to Windell Holmes's blown motor at turn 3 - he was stopped in a bad place and had oiled down the braking zone into the turn. Excellent dicing with David White (#12 CRX Si) and Eli Garrett (#98 VW GTI) on the restart.
Reasonable lap times, but the car felt down on power and everybody seemed to be able to motor by me on the start. An early race spin in turn 3 by Brian Mushnick (#3 VW GTI) shuffled the order as we all checked-up to avaoid a big mess, and as a result I spent a bunch of laps working to get around the #11 ITC Honda of Tim Klvana and the #16 Nissan of Brandon Bogart.
Lots of cars written off - and it didn't even rain! Qualified in a very crowded field, but got a few clean laps in (I was the last car out in the session), until we were all black-flagged due to Don Reilly's roll down the front straight (he walked away) and Windell Holmes stopped in the uphill. I qualified in the middle of the ITC fight for the lead. Learned a lot from Tim Klvana in an ITC CRX about where you don't have to brake at Lime Rock, and was able to turn race laps a second faster than qulifying. Tim dropped out after 6 laps (?) and the race ended after 18 laps under yellow after a multi-car incident at the end of the front straight.
