Brief History
of LNSA
Letran Nursing Students' Association was founded on June 9,
2004 and was identified as one of the Recognized
Student Organizations (RSO) in Colegio de San Juan de
Letran-Calamba. The School of Nursing was still on its
formative years when the pionner batch of nursing students,
headed by Venorin Genoroso (right), Cristy Ann
Fannings, Jeninah Basio and Mak Louie Manguiat proposed to
established a recognized student organization for nursing
students.
The aspirants filed their application and after
completing all the necessary requirements, Dr. Alita R.
Conde, RN, the Academic Dean of the School of Nursing,
finally approved the proposal.
The organization launched its first ever project
entitled 'Tuloy Aral sa Pagbilao, Quezon' in
partnership with the Letran-Calamba Supreme Student Council
(LCSCC) and the Community Extension Service Department (CESD).
With the accomplishment of this first project, LNSA was
granted with full recognition status by the Office of
Student Affairs, with Venorin Generoso as the first
President, followed by Rhiza Luckie Bayona (left) as the first
female president of the organization.
LNSA also sponsored the first Nurses' Week Celebration in
the School of Nursing. Different activities such as medical
mission, exhibit making, game tournament and academic
contests became the highlight of the celebration.
By academic year 2007-2008, LNSA has its first
constitutional amendment, and was again revised during the
succeeding academic year, which were both initiated by its
third president, John Ryan M. Debil. Currently, the LNSA
continues to serve its purpose of promoting excellence in
both academic and co-curricular activities of the nursing
students as well as advocating the health of the members of
the Letran community. |
