Browse the National Civil Rights Website. Note any quotes from individuals and what actions people took.

Here are some questions to help you with your notes:

  • Who are the people speaking for and against change?

  • What are they saying?

  • How did they get their message across to the people?

  • What actions do the people take?

  • What were the responses from the government and other groups?

  • How do the words of the individuals reflect the freedom of speech?

  • How do the actions of the people reflect the freedom of assembly?
