Located on the Lentburian frontier, Zortsel is nowadays the southern gateway to the Wey-Valley. At the end of 1947 the Zortsel plain, with its important railway connections to eastern Lentbury was allocated to the Freestate as compensation for demages. Especially in more recent years enormous efforts are made for the Germanspeaking community of the town. The completion of the Motorway bypass of the E25 and the modernization of the border terminal have paved the way for Zortsel to become an attractive tourist destination with a pedestrian-friendly historical downtown.
