Weather & fields

The tournament is on rain or shine.  In the event of extreme conditions, notice of cancellation or postponement will be posted on this web site and emailed to the captains.  Please check email and the web site just before you leave for the tournament.

Main rule: It is the responsibility of every player to stop play if conditions are unsafe or damaging to fields

Tourney staff will make final decisions, but it is also the responsibility of each and every player to stop play if conditions are unsafe or damaging to fields.  See field use and lightning policies below.

Dangerous conditions:  If a dangerous condition is discovered on any field, stop play immediately and report to tourney staff.  We'll repair the problem or move you to an alternate field and adjust your game schedule appropriately.

Field use policy: Play on wet fields must be halted if necessary to protect the field.  If any field has standing water, if turf tears easily with a cleat, or for any reason play is causing significant damage, stop using the field immediately and report to tourney staff.

We'll find an alternate field or reschedule your game.  Teams that play on damaged fields are subject to disqualification and may not be invited back to future Lemony Fresh tournaments.

Lightning policy: We follow NCAA/UPA lightning policy.  Esssentially, all players must be off fields when lightning is within 6 miles (i.e. there is less than 30 seconds between lightning flash and thunder sound).  Try to get to a building normally used by people, or if that's not available, to an enclosed motor vehicle with a metal roof.
