LEMONY SPRING
SPRING CLASSIC 09

rules

RULES: LEMONY SPRING 09 BOTH EDITIONS

all divisions

UPA 11th Edition rules are in effect with exceptions as noted here and printed in the tourney program.

Notes regarding caps (these are official UPA rules):
(1) a team may still win after the cap by reaching the target score with at least a two point margin.
(2) the cap does not affect timeouts.
(3) the current point begins as soon as the previous point is scored.
(4) the cap goes into effect when the point in progress is scored.

LS uses one-point and/or two-point soft caps and a hard cap.

One-point soft cap: At cap time, horn will blow once.  Finish the point in progress and game is capped at higher score plus one.  If you reach that score, it is not necessary to win by two.

Two-point soft cap: At cap time, horn will blow once.  Finish the point in progress and game is capped at higher score plus two.  If you reach that score, it is not necessary to win by two.

Hard cap: At hard cap time, horn will blow twice.  Finish point; if tied, play one more point, otherwise game over.

Cap horns & timing: Opposing captains should confirm current time and correct cap times at the start of each game, so that they can implement caps themselves in case the horns are not heard.

coed division
Coed ratio is 5/2-4/3 offense decides.  Receiving team chooses the maximum number of men per team on the field (either 5 or 4) at the start of each point, pulling team may not exceed that number.  Teams may agree to another ratio before each game using the captains clause.  Each injury or equipment sub must be of the same gender as the player he or she replaces.

Please make sure we know your team's ideal coed ratio.  The tournament includes teams set up to play 5 men/2 women and teams geared more toward 4 men/3 women or 3 men/4 women.  The default ratio is a compromise designed to allow such teams to compete together.  Within the bounds of good seeding, we'll attempt to create pools that match up teams with similar preferred coed ratios.  Any team that would like to change from the default ratio should check with the opposing captain before the game.  There is no obligation to change from the default.
