Ah, the blood curse. One of the most feared of all powers available to those of the blood of Amber. Nothing else has the potential to alter, or even destroy, reality as much as it. Pity the poor GM that has one of these go off in their game, no less multiple curses in the same session.

So how is our GM working the game mechanics? Well, the person laying the curse takes 10 Bad Stuff, but so does the recipient. Plus they get to specify some sort of effect that goes along with it. The GM also has it so that when a blood curse goes off, everyone of the blood of Amber hears it.
So how did this mess get started? It started by Takashi tripping down the stairs and blaming Hiroshi (an NPC). He started off by just cussing him, and then the player states that they are going to call on the power of the curse. The GM verifies and clarifies a few rules. The result?
So the characters go about out merry way, doing the panicked meeting in the dining room (meetings in the library are so over done) about what would happen. And then Regent Gerard starts drinking, heavily. So we descide to go scout out activity on the Black Road (hey, last time Uncle Gerard started drinking, bones were broken). Melusine gets called in by Talesin to help an injured Dworkin. And then, while it's just Simon and Archibald at camp, out of the blue Simon lays down his blood curse.
Right. And since Amber is descended from Chaos, that means all of the royal family of Amber is heading to human stats and no powers rapidly. Mind you, we're playing in the middle of the war with Chaos, so all of the elders are on the battle front with Chaos, and outnumbered. Have I mentioned Oberon was off trying to repair the Pattern?
So Melusine (who's in mental contact with Dworkin at the time) verifies with him that Simon's curse will effectively destroy Amber, and only another blood curse will stop it. And that at that time, the only thing strong enough to activate the blood curse is a death. So what's a gal to do (both in and out of character)? It was either kill herself and activate her own curse or have Amber fall. So Melusine spoke the following before using the last of her stregnth to thrust her own trident through her heart:
Well, it's now into play what the GM has set Eric's blood curse as! Basically it boils down to anyone who has taken the Logrus, and then seen Amber, can never return to Thelbane (the capital of the Courts of Chaos). Donald has promised the full text of the curse soon. Too bad the guy that has spent all of the last half dozen or so sessions in an attempt to get back to Chaos, wasn't around to hear it. Maybe someone can leave a note on his pillow for him...
