Introduction My name is LeeAnn and I'm a reunited birthmother. This Web Site is about my birthdaughter. I grew up in Richmond, Indiana and moved to Lexington, Kentucky in 1986. Some of you are hearing my story for the first time. The poem you read is my true story - similar to so many other girls in the 60s. Girl meets boy, girl gets pregnant, boy leaves girl. It was 1968 and good girls didn’t have babies unless they were married. So I went to a home for unwed mothers and gave my baby up for adoption. Why am I telling everyone now? In May 2000, my daughter searched for and found me. I no longer feel the shame of having been an unwed mother. My shame is in having relinquished my child. I’ve shed many tears of joy and sorrow since then, but I am so glad to have finally met my daughter. Click on the "next" button below to learn about our reunion. |
