Kouzes & Posner (1987) define charismatic leadership as �leadership that has a magnetic effect on people.�[1] Followers are said to revere the leader and depend on the leader in some emotive way.[1] The reactive power would suggest that there is a presence about the leader that extends beyond appearance and clothing. The leader is given an almost god-like or �hero� status. Not surprisingly, the leader is said to possess charisma which Weber (1987) defines as being �a certain quality of an individual personality by virtue of which he or she is set apart from ordinary people and treated as endowed with supernatural, superhuman, or at least specifically exceptional powers or qualities.�[1]
