I have been a Marine going toward the shore;
Apprehensive, with fear and fright.
I have been a police officer going through the door;
Praying for no one to get hurt that night.
Others have said I was brave and it was beyond them;
I reflect and then tell them they just don't see.
They need to know my hero, Him;
I pray to be as good and strong as he.
His name is Logan; He is a giant of a man;
Maybe not physically but most assuredly spiritually.
Even in the midst of his suffering willing to offer a hand;
He showed us how to live each day of life totally and fully.
I stand all amazed at the love he offers;
While teaching us how to deal with adversity.
That as he returns to our Heavenly Father;
My heart sings to know that again He, I will see.
Logan is a very special person who gave the ultimate price;
His life though short was one of much strife.
He taught us all much about the love of Jesus Christ;
As Logan in the pre-existence did
volunteer for others his life.
As the curtain is drawn on mortality with a hush;
Remembering a phrase from the Marines
with eternal significance "Semper-FI."
I say to myself and to all of us;
We must live for the day we will once again hear Logan say "Hi!"
Logan has led us down the path;
He has shown us the way to go.
Logan has gained all our Father hath;
Of this I surely know.
As I think of Logan and his special spirit;
I grieve for our loss of today and tomorrow.
But listen when I say this and hear it;
Logan is and will always be my HERO.
