Alexander’s youngest child, Lauderdale, married her cousin Sir James Horn Burnett of Leys, 10th Baronet, as his second wife.
Sir Herbert Ramsay, 5th Baronet of Balmain, immigrated to Australia where he married in 1902. His grandson, Sir Alexander William Burnett Ramsay, born in 1937 in New South Wales, Australia, is the current (7th) Baronet of Balmain as well as the heir presumptive of the dormant Baronetcy of Burnett of Leys

He was the only son of Colonel William Burnett Ramsay, Rifle Brigade, of Banchory Lodge, Banchory, a grandson of the first baronet of Balmain. Major Ramsay was born in March 1862, and educated at Haileybury College. He entered the 5th Lancers in August 1884, was transferred to the Rifle Brigade the following October promoted Captain November 1892, and Major October 1901. Major Ramsay served with the Burmese Expedition, 1886-88, receiving the medal with clasp.
