Welcome
to
My Dreams Page!
Here is where I shall tell you my dreams.
Although I grew up on the southern coast of New Jersey, I now live
in Ohio. How I got here is a rather long story, so I'll concentrate
on what my goals and dreams are for now. Most of my life I've lived up
and down the east coast. I was never more than an hour's drive from
the ocean. I've always loved the ocean and everything to do with it.
When I'm near the sea I can feel my energy recharging, giving me
renewed inner strength. My ultimate dream (and definate goal!)
is to once again live near my beautiful ocean.
I've also lived, for a shorter time than I would have liked to, on
Florida's Gulf Coast. Up until that time, I had never seen palm trees
in person, nor walked upon a tropical shore. I remember when I drove
over that huge bridge from Fort Myers to Sanibel Island, and glimpsed
the Gulf of Mexico's emerald water for the first time, I cried. I was
all alone, driving and crying, yet they were tears of happiness for
I had never seen anything so beautiful. I parked my car and walked on
Sanibel's sugar-white sand, picking up beautiful shells. When I waded
into the water up to my hips, I could still see my feet! The water was
so clear and gorgeous! I knew I had to come back again.
I can't explain what it is about me and the sea, but it is a connection I
feel deeply, and a loss I feel now, as I haven't seen any type of ocean
for many years. I also especially love places where there are pine trees
near the sea, like there were when I lived in southern New Jersey. There was a
huge pine forest that I had to drive through to get to the ocean there.
It was called the Pine Barrens. One of my favorite pines, the Eastern
White Pine, was growing in abundance. When I visited Sanibel Island, on Florida's
Gulf Coast, there was an Australian Pine growing all over and it had needles over
a foot long! Needless to say, I felt like I had stepped into paradise!
Living once again near the sea is one of my dreams and goals. Another
is getting my pilot's license. I've always wanted to get my license,
and no matter how long it takes me, I'll do it. Fortunately, the FAA changed
their third class medical certificate to allow diabetics in 1997, although for
many instructors, having diabetes is still looked at like one has the plague.
However, It is something I've always dreamed of doing, and I want to complete that goal.
Even though I am now a bit disabled, I haven't given up my goals and dreams.
If anything, the changes in my life have taught me to cherish even the smallest
things and I feel happy that I have learned to notice and appreciate them.
Here is a pic of Sanibel's sugar-white beaches. You can see the lighthouse
surrounded by those Australian pines in the backround.
Check out the weather for Sanibel Island, Florida!
