A sociology degree opens up careers in social work, criminal justice and law enforcement, life span services and business and industry.

When asked why most students involved in sociology pick this major Dr. Lewis commented, "We have two tracks with clear vocational emphasis: social work and criminal justice. Students tend to select one or the other with specific careers in mind."

One large benefit of the Benedictine curriculum in - comparison to other universities - is the close affiliation with the psychology department.

Dr. Lewis commented, "Sociology majors often decide to minor in Psychology. I'm not sure if that is common at other universities."
