Lasher
1993
This book begins immediately after Witching Hour. Rowan isnt around much, and Mona can be considered the star of this book.
Rowan has been kidnapped by Lasher, to whom she gave birth in the last book, and hes trying to breed with her. She finally escapes him and gives birth to a girl, Emaleth. Just as Lasher, she is fully grown just a short time after the birth. Rowan more or less falls into a coma after the birth, and is put to bed at First Street, where Michael watches over her.
Most of the book is about the family trying to find Lasher, since he killed several of their women trying to breed, but also about Michael talking to Juliens ghost.
My comments
Again, I have trouble writing about this book, because so much happens. Please, have patience with me!
This book is actually better than Witching Hour, but the scale only goes to five.
Ok, best part in this was Juliens story. Somehow, hes spellbinding. I also liked the Stella that was portrayed in this book. And Mona of course.
In this book, it was revealed that Ancient Evelyn had a relationship with Stella, which is quite unusual considering the fact that its a Rice-book. But maybe she wanted to be fair
And while Im talking about sexuality, the fact that Mona lost her virginity at the age of eight and likes to have sex near the Mayfair crypt are things that stays in your head for a while
The Taltos, the old creatures, reminds me about something I read in the Bible and
The Book of Enoch:
And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters.
And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another:
Come , let us choose us wives from among the children of men and beget us children.
//
And they became pregnant, and they bare giants
