THE HISTORY OF MAJICK
Sympathetic magic or the magic of the simple people, the magic of Witchcraft. The old religion of the people has always been "sympathetic" or Low Magic.
The earliest examples of this was found 25,000 years ago in preparations for hunting and for fertility. By making a clay figure of whichever animal was to be hunted that day and sticking it with spears, early humans believed that the real hunt would go just as the ritual hunt had gone. They then started constructing life-sized clay models of animals mating, believing this would cause the real animals to do the same thus ensuring the food supply. This was the start of "Sympathetic Magic". Cause and effect.
LET US LOOK AT HOW MAGIC WORKS
Unfortunately, there are no guarantees in Magic. No matter what we do or how we do it, we do not always get what we set fourth to do. The Lord and Lady know what is best for us and what we have in mind and what they have in mind for us is not always the same. So if a spell you cast does not work out as you plan, rejoice! The Lord and Lady has something even better for you planed in the long run.
Magic is to cause a influence over one's environment. You must understand that the "spiritual world" and the "material" world are intertwined and that fact allows for the "Magical Link." There is Divine power in the earth, just as there is in mind and spirit. We use love and will and use our minds to "link" these aspects with the Divine to bring about change.
Magic is the craft of living in harmony with nature and the magick of the earth. As we have grown other forms of magick has come into being such as the use of tools like ; poppets, charms, amulets, talismans, and tinctures. Rituals are ever changing just as holidays change over the years for the Christians. With each new generation and new tradition or aspect is added. This is the way of humans, we learn and pass it on to our bloodline.
You may have heard of the term, "White magic & Black magic"? This to me is not the case. There is no black or white. There is only the witch that chooses to use his or her influence for good or evil. The cause and effect are the same for good or evil. But remember this... What you send out comes back to you THREE FOLD. This is known as the Three Fold Law and has been with us since the dawn of time. Even the Christians have their saying.. "What comes around, goes around." This is the same thing! Casting a spell is like tossing a stone in a lake. It may have been only directed in one spot but the ripples spread far and wide.
The idea of magic is simple. It is a connection with the power within the earth and with the Divine, the building up of these powers, focusing on your intent and letting it go to hit its target. To some this is simple, to others it takes years of practice. Just remember if you are not up to doing magic on any given day, then don't! You don't want to come home from a long day at work feeling grumpy and try to do a spell for your higher good. If you are feeling bad.. tired, sick, angry.. you�re spell will come out the same way no matter what your intentions are. This is why we do groundings. To "ground" is to let all the cares of the day slip away. There are many different ways to do this. Personally I imagine myself in my minds eye as a plant. I see roots that reach deep into mother earth as she nourishes my soul. My arms reach for the sun as all the toxins of the day wash through me into the roots and then washed away by mother earth. This is a simple exercise and some may call silly but I tell you.. It works! Next is to put your heart, mind and soul in link with the Divine. What you are doing is spiritual and you must be in that same spiritual place. You must connect with the spiritual world to bring about change in this world. You become one with nature, wild and free with no bonds to travel from one world to the next. And with all things...time will teach you a lot and walking and talking with the Divine is like rain to the flowers of the field, it helps them grow.
