What Is A Amulet?

Unlike a talisman, an amulet is not made by man but is all natural. A bear's claw, nut, seashell, stone, tree resin and a rabbit's foot are all amulets. Although I have shown you in the picture above stones that have been polished, I can not say that these are true amulets because man has changed them to polish them. Natural is always best when you can get stones in the raw form. But as an example, I used them to represent stones. One of the oldest examples of a amulet is a stone with a natural hole through it. The hole is symbolic of the vagina and of fertility thus representing the Goddess. Many witches wore such amulets around their necks centuries ago. I of yet have not ran across such a stone, but I look everyday wherever I go. I have friends that have been so lucky but I suppose it is not my time to find it or I haven't the use for it now. When and if it is meant to be, It will come to me. So, you can not "make" an amulet, only "adopt" one. If you where to take a amulet and change it either by carving, painting or even putting it on a string it becomes what is known as a "talismanic amulet". Some faiths believe that a talisman is a sender and a amulet is a receiver. My thoughts are this and I have been proven right by using both over the years. Amulets and Talismans are magickal tools like any tool you choose to use. They will work as you have created, consecrated and empowered them to be. It all comes down to a name... Talisman= Man made and Amulet= Nature made. Whatever your choice to use, respect them as with all of your magickal tools.
Bless Be!
