Joining the 'mele' of agricultural populace from the rural areas of SHROPSHIRE, HEREFORDSHIRE, DERBYSHIRE, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, YORKSHIRE and LANCASHIRE.
This migration was brought about by the INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION which took place during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Agricultural workers left their work and homes by the droves.
With the commencement of the 'Enclosure Movement' agricultural workers began to lose their jobs and with the promise of better wages in the 'new' towns that were beginning to bloom they moved into the industrial areas of the West Midlands and Lancashire.
