I have been interested in witchcraft and Wicca for a long time. As far as its practice, I am an unabashed fledgling, just starting to test my wings, but I love the universality of the Old Religion. All things are connected. All things are sacred. What could be more basic than that?
Here are some sites for more information about Wicca and witchcraft.

Wicca has become trendy lately.  Shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed have attracted many young people especially to "the Craft" (and, yes, the movie of that name may have helped start the "craze.") Now, don't get me wrong; I enjoy those shows. I like fantasy. But what Willow and her pals practice is not Wicca. True Wiccans do not curse people. They don't tap into power from some weird, ancient source -- they channel the power that is in all of us, in all the Earth. The new influx of folks into the ranks of Paganism, the use of Pagan imagery in advertising, the companies who market cutesy "spell kits" and "teen witch kits"... all of this pop culture referencing of Wicca and magick has been a two-edged sword. Yep, it's brought us out of the broom closet, but now, to quote Buffy's Willow, "You know, nowadays every girl with a henna tattoo and a spice rack thinks shes a sister of the Dark Ones."

Many Wiccans call these witchy wanna-bes "fluffy bunnies."

Wiccans
do have a sense of humor, and this is one of the topics that brings it out. Here are a couple of funny articles:

My favorite online cartoon is Foamy, from the wild and wonderfully creative mind of Jonathan Ian Mathers, who has graciously given me permission to post one of his cartoons here. In it, Germaine (aka "the goth chick" or just "Germ") dabbles in magic with curious results.
Warning: the language in this toon can be pretty "street." Jonathon rates it PG 13.

It will open in a new window.
