| I have loved vampires since the days of The Munsters and The Addams Family. The first completed short story I ever wrote, in elementary school, was a sort of vampire tale, and the magical, talking horses whose stories I used to tell at school were bloodsuckers. (I was a strange child.) I enjoy Buffy, Angel and my favorite, Forever Knight, but there is more to the Children of the Night than being photogenic! |
| Besides the obvious vampire books -- Dracula and the Anne Rice books -- there are many great books and series about vampires out there. Being a fan of vampire mysteries, I especially like the very popular Laurel K. Hamilton "Anita Blake" series. Anita, known to the vampires as the Executioner, is just that, an official executioner of vampires in a world where the bloodsuckers are just a pretty part of the scenery. She is also an animator, a raiser of zombies, quite handy when no one can find Uncle Irv's will. Courted by the vampire Master of the City (would you believe St. Louis?) and by the leader of the local werewolves, Anita is a very busy (and lucky) girl. The books are: Guilty Pleasures The Laughing Corpse Circus of the Damned The Lunatic Cafe Bloody Bones The KIlling Dance Burnt Offerings Blue Moon Obsidian Butterfly Narcissus in Chains Cerulean Sins Harder to find, but in the same vein (pun honestly not intended) are Tanya Huff's wonderful "Blood" series. I love these books, but, alas, there'll be no more, Ms. Huff says. Victoria Nelson is a former cop who left the force because of deteriorating eyesight. When corpses begin to show up drained of blood, she teams up with her ex-partner Mike Celucci and Henry Fitzroy, who happens to be the vampiric illegitimate son of Henry XIII and a romance novelist (putting 450+ years of experience to good use,) to solve the case. Future cases involve werewolves, mummies, ghosts, and reanimated dead folk. The books are: Blood Price Blood Trail Blood Lines Blood Pact Blood Debt I do not read romance novels! Honestly! So imagine my surprise when, at a bookstore clerk's suggestion, I discovered the "Vampire Valerian" series by Linda Lael Miller. They are great, sexy and involving. The books are: Forever and the Night For All Eternity Time Without End Tonight and Always |

I recently discovered this huge site that covers everything from graveyards to horror makeup to horror movies to vampires. Check out the library of horror classics online: Lovecraft, Poe, Dracula, Frankenstein... all the greats! And there are some Flash flicks that are very cool, including renditions of Poe's "Annabel Lee" and "The Raven". Dagonbytes |

| If you like online games and vampires, try this one: VAMPIRES! |
![]() You are most likely to be the Vampire Recluse! The Recluse hides from others, and more importantly, itself. Ashamed of what it is and what it has become, the recluse feels varying degrees of guilt over the thought of having to feed off the living; usually the recluse has become a vampire against its will, or if a voluntary act, quickly grows to resent this decision. Often the recluse's physical appearance will lack the influence of the vampire charm, instead being replaced in equal by the alluring quality of its heart. Ironically, the recluse is often times a very powerful vampire, perhaps gaining power from its own aversion, or perhaps because its painful clutches to its lost humanity strengthen it.
Dominant personality trait: Guilt
