So "I", as Wes am typing this because I'm not sure how much longer I can go on. Elena is there trying to support me, and is ready to 'take over' if I can no longer go on. Considering the alternatives many people take (such as suicide) when there 'sole' personality loses it, Wes is quite grateful to have Elena along for the ride!
Elena has had the time she needs to mature and feels capable of taking on the world (a few people at a time anyway :) and feels indebted to Wes for his having protected her for so long. ?
Sure, we've tried to merge, more or less successfully. There have been periods where it seemed Wes was very happy and coping very well as a husband, father, friend, and human. But there have been very ugly times as well. The ugly times keep getting uglier. I'm afraid if the pattern continues I'll end up on a tall building with a high powered slingshot (didn't think I was REALLY going to say rifle did you??? :))
Suffice it to say that, in this journal, when I say "I", I'm referring to the 'collective' :) When I refer to one of us by name; well, that's obvious isn't it?
