If your wants and needs are simple

They'll know no bounds or measures.

It's the simple little things in life

That bring the greatest pleasure.

The sun shining warmly on your face

A puppy dog wagging his tail.

An hour away from life's rat race

A blamy lake on which to sail.

The pure simplicity of a child

A fluffy kitten purring.

A country picnic just for two

A rose's soft alluring.

An anticipated bubble bath

Catching a glimpse of a falling star.

A slow walk down memory lane

The smell of a brand new car.

This is only a small sample

Of the treasures that we store.

Of lifes greatest little things

Each day we add so many more.

It is only a tiny rosebud

A flower of God's design.

But I cannot unfold the petals

With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers

Is not known to such as I.

The flower God opens so sweetly

In my hands would fade and die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud

This flower of God's design.

Then how can I think I have wisdom

To unfold this life of mine?

So I'll trust in Him for His leading

Each moment of every day.

And I'll look to Him for His guidance

Each step of the pilgrim way.

For the pathway that lies before me

My Heavenly Father knows.

I'll trust Him to unfold the moments

Just as He unfolds the rose.

I'll paint you a rainbow

To hang on a wall,

To brighten your heart

When the grey shadows fall.

On a canvas of joy

Outlasting the years,

With a soft brush of sweetness

To dry all your tears.

I'll paint you a rainbow

With colors of smiles,

That glow with sincerity

Over the miles.

On a palette of words

I will tenderly blend,

Tones into treasures

Of sunlight and wind.

I'll paint you a rainbow

That reaches so wide,

Your sights and your sorrows

Will vanish inside.

And deep in the center

Of each different hue,

A memory fashioned

Especially for you.

So lift up your eyes

For suspended above,

~Grandma's~

If I were granted any wish

I'll tell you what I'd do

I'd wish my kids were small again

For just a month or two.

To hear their squeals of laughter

To watch them while they play

And when they ask me to join in

I'd NOT say "Not today."

To hug again their chubby frame

To kiss away their tears.

And cherish childhood innocence's

That's washed away the years.

Then when it's story time again

I'd stay a little longer

To answer questions, sing the songs

So memories would be stronger.

But time is callous, wishes, myth

Yet God in all his wisdom

Has given me another chance

Before I join his Kingdom.

The face may not be just the same

The name is changed, 'tis true

But yet the smile that radiates

Reminds me so of you.

So God gave love to Grandma's

To equal that before

That, in effect embraces

Those little lives she bore.
