The
Aims and Objectives of LACC are
as follows:-
- To
provide free legal aid, counselling, mediation services and court representation
to the needy women and children.
- To
influence the legislative reforms and official/public policies on promotion
and protection of the rights and interests of women and children, gender
equality, women's empowerment and gender-equitable development.
- To
draft legislative bills protecting the rights and interests of women
and children and lobby with the Members of Parliament, Ministers and
policy influencing individuals and institutions for the enactment of
the proposed draft bills into law.
- To
influence the law makers for abolishing all forms discriminatory laws
against women.
- To
work for elimination of all forms of exploitation, discrimination, trafficking,
violence against women and children through legal and judicial process.
- To
raise women's consciousness about the social, cultural, economic, religious
and legal injustices, gender issues and discrimination against them
and develop their consciousness, self-confidence and esteem through
training, discussions, workshops, publications, awareness raising and
leadership development programmes.
- To
encourage and prepare women to play a leading role in Nepal's social,
political legal and economic development.
- To
train women law students with a view to creating more women leaders
in judiciary, politics, bureaucracy, law enforcement and other sectors.
- To
develop a critical understanding of the role of law in women's lives
through legal research and conduct legal research and various need assessment
that will help in addressing women's and children's concerns in a scientific
manner.
- To
work for protection and promotion of women's rights as enshrined in
the CEDAW, the Platform for Action and the Beijing Declaration, 1995
in the country- especially in rural areas.

training, dissemination, sensitization, documentation, fact-finding, research,
publications, advocacy, campaign, lobbying, networking, legal aid, counselling,
mediation services and court representation. |
