Figure fixers:
Full hips:

To balance out curvy hips, thighs and rear, try shifting the focus to shoulders, waist and chest.

Tips:
- Try scoop, funnel or V-necklines to draw attention away from the hip area
- A slender A-line coat is a chic way to cover up your lower body. Also, choose A-line skirts to the
knee or just below to flatter your shape
- Try bright colors and interesting textures above the waist; stick to dark neutrals for skirts and pants
- Experiment with scarves and necklaces. or, pick a pair of pretty high heels to slim and elongate your
  legs.
Boyish figure:

For figures with similar bust, waist and hip measurements, the trick is to create curves with your clothing.

Tips:
- Steer clear of boxy, stiff silhouettes; try flowing shapes that soften straight lines
- Pick from bias-cut or flared styles to enhance curves
- Mix and match colors; monochromatic outfits camouflage your shape
- Spice up your wardrobe with fall's new multi-colored geometric patterns; bold prints add the illusion of more curves
- Define your waist with a fitted jacket that nips in, or emphasize your hips with a low-slung chain belt
Large chest:

When upper proportions are bigger than lower, divert the eye downward to offset bust and shoulders.

Tips:
- Pair tops with slender pants and skirts for a narrow silhouette
- Choose tops and jackets that are slightly loose (but not too big) in dark shades for a minimizing illusion
- Stay away from belts; your chest and shoulders will appear larger Try either a printed or brightly colored bottom to focus attention on bottom.
Other tips for women:
1. A hemline that hits the heaviest part of your legs, adds pounds! (If you have heavy legs, long
skirts would look better hemmed lower, at the narrowest part of the calf.)
2. To minimize curves: wear a medium-lenght, double-breasted suit, to disguise big breasts and
    hips.
3. To elongate your body wear a pinstripe suit, to create a vertical optical illusion, which makes you
    appear taller and thinner.
4. To slim your body wear a single-button jacket with long pants, which has an overall slenderizing
    effect.

Alberta Ferreti: "If your waist is thick, try not to draw too much attention to it. One option- wear straight silhouettes."

Cynthia Rowley: "To 'lenghten' your legs, I suggest wearing slim-fit cigarette pants, or dresses that are to the knee, with a pointy mule or heel."

Mark Eisen: "Direct attention to the upper body look for details such as sensual necklines. Wear slim sweaters, long jackets, and knee-length skirts."
How to dress slimmer

Do wear suits rather than dresses. The more lines and seams you have, the less attention is drawn to not-so-perfect areas underneath.

Do choose dresses with high empire waists they are more forgiving to trouble spots like the hips and tummy.

Do wear skinny diagonal stripes. Horizontal stripes create width; diagonal stripes give a fluid look. And the skinnier the stripe, the thinner you will appear.

Do look for knits with a small textured pattern. Tiny designs are the best camouflage I know of.

Don't wear pleats they instantly add five pounds.

Don't rely on brown and navy to have the same slimming effect as black they don't. (But they will make you look slimmer than white and pastel shades will.)

Don't wear Lycra and other stretchy fabrics they aren't at all forgiving.

Pants and skirts that flatter your figure

Flatten your tummy: A solid skirt with two darts in front smoothes out your tummy area.

Disguise your thighs: A straight-cut skirt hides big thighs.

Smooth your shape: Lycra content acts as a girdle to smooth out your shape

Shrink your waist: Skirts with a flared, A-line cut make your waist appear smaller and hide your thighs. If you want to wear pleats, they should start below the hips, to flatten your tummy and give you freedom of movement.

Cover your butt: Pants with full-cut legs conceal large thighs and a big butt.

Hide your tummy: Trousers with a flat front hide your tummy and flatten you all around.

Minimize your thighs: The slight flare at the bottom of boot-cut pants makes your thighs appear thinner.

Lengthen your legs: Pants with narrow-cut legs hug your thighs and butt, making you appear taller.

For longer, thinner legs: Create the illusion with slender, sexy heels.
