The Tools
Just like a plummer or mechanic, you as an actor gotta have this little bag of tools that you carry with you at all times. There are so many books on the subject of acting with so many different viewpoints, it's enough to make you dizzy. You need to try a few different methods, I mean really try, and see if any of them work for you----in combat. Not in an acting class, that doesn't count. Then start collecting those tools into your toolbag. Let me put it this way, you're reading for a lead role, they give you 3 scenes (to show different sides of your character), and you have 15 minutes to look over those sides before you go into that office to audition. You have 15 minutes to make those words come off that page and MEAN SOMETHING. That's the kind of tools I'm'a talkin' about.

There are 3 important parts to your acting technique, whether it be in an audition, rehearsal or performing-stage or screen. 1. Asking good character/scene analysis questions-that cut to the chase of the scene's meaning and make you behave. 2. Solid Cold Reading Mechanics-that come from real life behavior. 3. Understanding your own "Personal Experience" and putting it into your acting..
