The most effective method for cold reading teaches you concrete physical skills that come from real life behavior.
Vincent Chase's Cold Reading Method
Trigger: The Trigger, is whatever the other person says or does in the scene that "Triggers" you to say or do whatever you do. Subtext: What and how you "feel" when you say what you do or do what you do. Line: The line you say in the script or action you do in the script. Follow-through: What you want the other character to do or say based on what you just said or did.
You can break down a script quickly and know exactly "how to say those lines" because it's based on the reality of the situation in the scene. This Cold reading method teaches you how to create real life behavior-we are triggering all day long off other peoples words and actions or our own thoughts that contain memories of them. It gets kinda scarey to think about, but we're are trigger-happy robots!

The Vincent Chase Workshop The last I heard, Vince was still teaching at his workshop, located above a dry cleaning service on Poinsetta and Sunset Blvd., in Hollywood, entrance in the rear up the stairs. If you study with him, or one of his disciples, just take the cold-reading classes and work your ass off. Learn it so well you can teach the technique yourself, then get out. You'll never regret it.
