In 1990 Kylie completely changed her image. It is not a recommended move for a pop artist who had sold over 20 million albums with two albums to do this. To kylie however, this was much needed progression. Still with PWL and S/A/W Kylie decided to take control of not only the musical video's for self expression but also dabble in co- writing with the album tracks. Influenced heavily by a sexier image the singles were all top 10 smashes but more importantly the advent of "SexKylie".  The girl from neighbours who seemed a sexual and virginal was now thrusting herself at the camera, dancing provocatively and  leaving every man in complete amazement.  This beared on the sales of the album, many were just to shocked by the sudden change of style, but the strenght of pure pop material spoke volumes. The best produced PWL Kylie tracks had emerged. SexKylie still shake's her booty  today.

The Golden Quartet
The first release from the album was "Better The Devil You Know". the dancefloor anthem amongst Europe's largest gay nightclub in London, it can still be heard every weekend at 12:30am. The video featured Kylie (who was madly in love with Michael Hutchence) at the time dancing and energetically seducing the camera in every way she hadn't done before. the curls had gone and the straightened hair with hot pants and  a midriff Britney today tries hard to compete with provided Kylie with the best selling calender of 1990/1. There was discussion as to who was driving this image change and many said INXS frontman Michael Hutchence. I think it aided Kylie but in the end a girl became a woman, the confidence began to convey over to the camera and the sexuality of this Australian beauty was finally released to the world. The three follow up singles, "Step Back In Time", "What do I Have To Do"? and "Shocked" were equally in line with the album. the four hits all went top 10 positioning at, 2,4,5,6 respectively. This achievement placed Kylie fans naming this period as "the golden quartet". Other tracks on the album were pop driven with a ballad, a rap (by Kylie) and a smoother American feel dance tune, which is the title track providing one of the best pop album's of all time.
UK Chart History Recognition
The first female ever in the history of the British chart's to have the first 13 singles go top 10 on the singles sales chart.  At the age of just 22 Kylie Minogue is in the history books forever. The album is considered to be her best by some fans. Their reasons rarely change from one to another. The sexy image, the sexuality Kylie showed through the videos and the sound pure energy pop sound has never dated. Thi salbum will always be a pivotal point to the career of Miss Minogue, a springboard a learning curve that today brings us "Fever" and "Light Years". Kylie co-wrote with Stephen Bray on the title track and this became Kylie's main goal to increase her creative spirit and input on her albums whilst maintaing the high quality pop sound she has become famous for around the world.

Simply The Best
Today the music industry is dominated by huge stars, the world has become easier to market music due to the internet and the global stars have risen dramatically. Kylie has always remained a part of the pop scene and this album signified not only a creative change but also a glimpse of the star quality that she possesed. The terms pop princess and pop queen are all too commonly used, in 1990 only Kylie and Madonna were such a force in the UK charts and without any marketing and targeting there music represented the pre internet pre marketing machine driven success stories. It is clearly evident how heavily Kylie has relied on Rhythm Of Love recently the imagery from the video's and the advent of sexkylie is apparent in every way possible, brought up to date and using the latest techonology the Can't Get You Out Of My head video is merely an extension of this 1990-91 period to Kylie's successful career. A fantastic album in every way!!

Review
Yes, it's simple S/A/W dance-pop, but Rhythm Of Love is leaps and bounds more mature than Kylie's first two releases. The songwriting is stronger, the production dynamic, and Kylie seems confident vocally. This is more a complete album, with many of the tracks, possible singles --Things Can Only Get Better a prime example. Definitely her best work from S/A/W era.  9/10
